“Better is open rebuke than hidden love.”

(Proverbs 27:5)

This short verse is tall in the simple truth it contains. God tells us that hiding love is worse than openly correcting someone. Open expression of love may keep offenses from occurring in the first place and make correction unnecessary! Or to put it another way, If we encourage the right behavior we may not have to correct the wrong behavior.

Since we know this to be true, then the application it has is to the Gospel is profound.

The heart of the Gospel is that,”Go so loved the world”.

God’s love should never be hidden, obscured by other things, or pushed aside and minimized.

The love shown by God’s sacrifice of His Son Jesus, and the selfless suffering and brutal death of Jesus for we who are undeserving, should take prominence in every Christian sermon, essay, article and viewpoint we share with this world.

Don’t hide your love, and be certain to never hide God’s love by neglecting to share the Good News of Jesus Christ!

2 Corinthians 4:3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
