“A sermon can be very biblical, explaining accurately the selected text, and yet fail to point people to Christ as their righteousness and power to change. When this happens it’s a failure to be true to the whole context of Scripture.”
“The motto of all true servants of God must be, “We preach Christ, and him crucified.” A sermon without Christ in it is like a loaf of bread without any flour in it. No Christ in your sermon, sir? Then go home, and never preach again until you have something worth preaching.” Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892)

What a tragedy that even in so-called evangelical Churches, the name of Christ is not always heard.
We are one day closer!

When I was in Bible school, the podium had a plaque on it that said, “SIR, WE WOULD SEE JESUS” John 12:21. I always loved that. That ought to be the goal of every person who handles the Word of God. When we center in Christ, we center in the place where all fullness dwells! All other emphases are partial and limited. In Christ all is full, complete, inexhaustible and fully alive. Spurgeon was a great example of preaching “Jesus Christ and him crucified.” Thanks for the quotes!
